Performance Coaching for Athletes, Coaches and Parents
One-on-one sessions, or group and team workshops for athletes, coaches and/or parents. Evidence-based and individualized mental skills training programs available for athletes and teams on wide ranging topics from setting and achieving goals, developing and maintaining confidence, overcoming fear, anxiety/stress management, dealing with pressure, improving your motivation, preventing or overcoming burnout, developing attention and focusing skills, recovering from injury, and optimal preparation for return to play after injury, leadership development and team building. These mental skills training programs may also include specific skills such as imagery/visualization, mindfulness, relaxation training, energy management.
AthletesEvery program will begin with a hour long interview during which we determine the factors impacting your performance. At the end of this first session, together we will develop a plan of action. This plan will identify the specific skills and growth areas that will be addressed to help you achieve your goals and improve your performance.
Each session after the first will involve learning new mental skills, discussing your progress, building on strengths and assigning you homework to try in practice and/or competition. Some clients start to see results after the first two or three sessions. However, you can expect that 6-10 sessions might be needed to fully address your goals and to see long-lasting change. |
ParentsToday the world of youth athletics is so pressure filled. Each team and coach wants your child to practice and compete more and that also places a lot of pressure on you as a parent. You have high hopes and goals for your child, and sometimes it would be helpful to know how to best encourage and support your child during practice, and before or after competition. Parent coaching sessions can help you identify the best parenting strategies to support your child in their athletic endeavors. My approach will teach you specific strategies, individualized to your child, to support, encourage and positively parent your child on the side lines. You can also be a key component of your child's mental game development.

CoachesBeing a coach is challenging. Coaches deal with pressure and stress that can take the joy out of coaching. Additionally, coaches may not always know how to best support athletes who may be going through a slump, experiencing injury, or struggling with the pressure of competition.
Through one-on-one coach focused sessions, or group workshops for coaches, I will teach you how to handle the most common struggles that coaches encounter (e.g. how to build mentally tough athletes, increasing motivation, preventing or overcoming injury/burnout etc.). Or you may be interested in learning how to develop leadership skills in your athletes or how to build more effective teams. In this train-the-coach approach, I will teach you how to use imagery/visualization, relaxation training, energy management, and other skills during drills in practice. |
